Project overview

Sunset Thai serves noodles, curries, fried rice, soups, salads, pho and other Thai dishes for dine-in and takeout in Pismo Beach.

Where a one-page site would squeeze everything together, this website gives each part of the restaurant experience its own page: the full menu, a favorites page, the story, a gallery, reviews and visit details. The home page works as a summary, with featured dishes, menu categories, a photo strip, review excerpts and visit information.

One deliberate detail: ordering isn't live yet, so rather than leave a dead button, the site labels it “Online ordering coming soon” in the header, on the opening screen and in a dedicated band, and its questions section explains that takeout is available by phone while the restaurant switches to a new ordering service.

The goal

The goal was to present the restaurant clearly on desktop and mobile, to make the menu, the food and the visit details easy to find, and to set honest expectations while online ordering is prepared.

This page describes the website as it is today. It makes no ranking, traffic or sales claims, and it doesn't say anything about online ordering beyond what the site itself says.

Project improvements

With no earlier version to compare against, this is what the current website contains.

Restaurant presentation

A full-width opening screen names the restaurant and the town, followed by a four-point bar: fresh ingredients, made to order, Pismo Beach, and dine-in plus pickup.

Featured dishes and categories

Featured dishes appear with short descriptions and prices. A Menu Categories band links into six categories: Starters, Salads, Curries, Noodle Soups, Fried Rice and Chef's Favorites.

A complete menu page

The Menu page organizes the whole menu into twelve sections, from starters, salads and curries to wok-fried dishes, noodle soups, chef's favorites, beverages, dessert and side orders, and publishes it as structured Menu data.

Photos

A gallery page and a home-page photo strip show dishes such as Thai fried rice, pad thai, noodle soup and papaya salad, plus the restaurant's interior and entrance.

Calls to action on mobile

Explore menu, call for takeout and get directions buttons appear throughout. On phones a fixed bar offers Menu and Call, with a plain “Coming Soon” label standing in for ordering.

Reviews and visit details

A reviews page shows a few Google review excerpts and links to read all reviews on Google. A Visit page covers the address, hours and directions.

Search readiness

Each of the eight pages has its own title, description and canonical URL. An XML sitemap lists all eight with last-modified dates. Restaurant structured data includes address, opening hours, areas served and the menu link, and interior pages carry breadcrumb markup. A dedicated page covers Thai food in Pismo Beach.

Image delivery

Photos are served as WebP in several sizes through responsive image markup, lazy-loaded, with explicit dimensions and alt text. The menu page alone holds 30 images.

The current visitor experience

A visitor sees the restaurant name and three actions: explore the menu, call for takeout, and get directions. Featured dishes and menu categories sit just below, and the full menu is one tap away.

From the menu, visitors can move to the gallery, the reviews page or the Visit page without losing their place in the site. On a phone, the Menu and Call bar stays on screen.
